The most common risk: The infections are caused by the poor hygiene that the majority of nail salons have.
The risks of infections are because instruments are being shared with other people who may be infected with the instruments that are used for cuticles which in hand are potentially the most dangerous because they can touch blood and fungus. The greatest risks and common infections are in the pedicures and manicures. For this very important reason people with diabetes or with problems in the immune system should avoid cutting cuticles during these procedures.
Recommendation when going to a nail salon
• Pay close attention at how they clean the instruments.
• The correct procedure is that they should have disinfecting equipment and devices with ultraviolet light.
• The ideal device is that one similar to those used by dentists. These are used in salons in the U.S. but not elsewhere in the world.
• If you prefer you can take your own instruments for your manicure and pedicure, but keep in mind that you must also disinfect them after every use. (SOURCE: Beauty-Tips.net)
